Recognised as one of the leading technologies in the field of component measurement, the machine is the first of a series of CMMs designed to support Manthorpe’s fully integrated manufacturing cell.
Currently on site are two Euro Apex CMMs running MCosmos software. These will be replaced in the new year by a pair of brand new Crysta Apex machines as part of a plan to revolutionise speed, efficiency and quality of production.
Housed in a temperature controlled room only metres from Manthorpe’s integrated manufacturing cell, the machines offer precision measurement support to the existing manufacturing capacity.
The automated cell, which is fully robotised to allow for rapid loading and unloading of fixtures, features two DMU 70 Evo Linear Five Axis Milling machines and one DMC 60 FD Multi Tasking Machining Centre. Large capacity tool storage enables multiple part manufacture.
With the addition of the new CMMs Manthorpe operatives will be able to machine, deburr, clean, fit and inspect at a single dedicated facility.
